Day 9 – Dubrovnik to Dubrovnik Airport: Back Home
Sunday September 12, 2010, 22 km (13 miles) – Total so far: 595 km (370 miles)
I had a great night’s sleep at the hostel and decided to make the most of my last morning in Croatia by walking the town walls.

After walking the walls I had another stroll around the old town before getting on the bike for one last trip to the airport. It rained quite a bit on the short 20km spin and I got yet another puncture but it didn’t dampen my spirits much and I arrived at the airport in plenty of time.

I wrapped the bike up fairly quickly and had plenty of time to relax in the airport and reflect on the trip.
It was a fantastic experience and I really enjoyed the whole simplicity of the trip. Also importantly I had learnt some lessons about what would work and what wouldn’t for a longer tour. But most importantly I’m now more determined than ever to do a round the world cycle after college. I don’t want to find myself stuck in a computing career and regret not having gone for it. My best chance is to go after college, it is the one time I will have a break before entering the working world. So for the next 2 years I need to save, save, save and after work placement, try and get a part-time job wherever possible. I am going to have to work hard to make this dream happen. Hopefully all goes to plan!
